Salty and Sweet Christmas Treat

Christmas Idea #12 - Salty and Sweet Christmas Treat
Source:  House on Hilltop
Need something yummy and fast for a Christmas treat?  Maybe you need to take something to a party, work, or neighbors.  Whoever or whatever, there is A LOT of baking that goes on in December and here is one quick recipe to help you out.

To make these, here's what you'll need:
Hersey Kisses
Pretzels (round kind)
{red & green} M&M's

Preheat your oven to 225 degrees. Spread the round pretzels on a cookie sheet so that they lie flat. Fill the center of each pretzel with a Hershey Kiss.  Now, place the cookie sheet into your oven. Allow the kisses to melt. Don’t leave the room. This really takes only 3 or 4 minutes. Maybe less, depending on your oven. Take them out as soon as the kisses are melted, but still hold their shape. If you leave them in too long, they will dry out and become hard.  Now, press one M&M into each kiss. Push them around a little so that chocolate touches all of the edges of the pretzels.  Allow the chocolate to set up and enjoy.

These can be made with Rolos instead of Kisses. The caramel tastes wonderful with the pretzel.

Oh wow, cool treat! And I can buy gluten free pretzels, so this is perfect. Thanks.

Fun! I just made some of these tonight for December birthday treats tomorrow. Fabulous.

I used Hershey's Hugs, though. Yum. Wish I could share a photo of mine too. :D

Nancy thanks for the comment about using Rolos. I haven't tried that before but I am sure they would be DIVINE!

If you try it with the Rollos, try using a pecan half on top instead of the M & M - just like a gooey, turtle!

This would be a great idea if a) you could actually find round pretzels and b) once heated, Hershey kisses actually hardened up again. My chocolate is still mushy and I've tried freezing, tried leaving them set for hours and nothing. And the ones that I "moved around" to even out the chocolate are now stuck to the pan and only come off in bits and pieces. Such a disappointment.

Place parchment paper on your cookie sheet first. I also put into fridge after to get the chocolate to set faster. If you’re in Michigan or anyplace that sells Better Made Chips, they make a round pretzel.

I can't find the round pretzels anywhere local to me, and they cost an arm and a leg ordered online. Would this work at all using a traditional twisted pretzel?
